Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report initial examinations show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.
An important official stated the incident rendered him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
